The Slalom L is a great all-rounder for heavier and taller paddlers. It has enough safety margin to take it out on challenging whitewater. At 271 cm long, the boat is quite long and therefore pretty fast. However, the bow is significantly less bulky than, for example, on the
Waka Puffy Steeze . The seating position is therefore also somewhat different: the legs are more stretched out and not as far apart. Because the boat is narrower, it's extremely easy to roll over the rail and can also be boofed over the stern with ease.
The Exo Zion Slalom L has by far the biggest rocker we've ever seen! The boat is practically a semicircle! This leads to several things. For one, the bow ALWAYS stays dry. It zips, pushes, and bounces over everything in its path. The rocker at the stern is also considerable. As a result, even after big boofs, you rarely get thrown out of position. Another important point: due to the banana shape, even small changes in seating position have a significant impact on the boat's handling. Experimenting with your seating position is recommended. Thanks to the new metal plate with a groove, this is quite easy to do. Shifting your weight forward and backward also translates well to the boat.
Despite the pronounced stern rocker, the boat can still be undercut and provides plenty of fun on the river!
Our conclusion: a fantastic river runner for everyone weighing approximately 75-80 kg and above! Definitely worth trying!
