Good kayak shoes make more of a difference than you might think. On wet rocks, getting in and out of the boat or portaging along the bank, you need shoes with excellent grip and sufficient protection. In whitewater, slippery soles are a real safety hazard.
We carry water sport shoes from Five Ten, Astral, Palm and NRS. Five Ten and Astral set the standard for sole traction -- Stealth rubber and similar compounds provide incredible grip even on wet surfaces. Add to that robust constructions that protect your feet from sharp rocks and cold.
For whitewater kayakers, we recommend ankle-high models with a firm sole and good lateral support. For touring or SUP, lighter neoprene shoes are often sufficient. Important: The shoe must fit comfortably inside the boat.
