The Immersion Research Sahalie is a high-quality dry suit for women. Professional kayakers including Nouria Newman, Anna Wagner and Nicole Mansfield were involved in its development, so the suit meets the demands of professional athletes.

Entry on this suit is via a rear zip. This is slightly more watertight than a diagonal front zip, because there are no "channels" in the double tunnel that could direct water into the boat. The suit features double gaskets made of latex and neoprene at the wrists and neck. Thanks to the clever "peel-off" construction, it's particularly easy to take off because the neoprene cuffs fold over the latex.

The width at the hips can be individually adjusted with a belt.

On the Sahalie, the double tunnel is adjustable with hook-and-loop closure. We're also particularly impressed by the booties — they're extra reinforced and stay watertight for a very long time.

The material used is made entirely from recycled water bottles and is bluesign® certified. It's highly breathable, prevents condensation build-up and dries quickly.

Front zip! Wait, what?

The biggest difference compared to, for example, the Immersion Research Aphrodite dry suit is the zip arrangement. The Sahalie ditches the drop seat and moves the entry zip to the back. Like the men's version, this suit also has a relief zip at the front. This means you need to use a small funnel for peeing. While this might seem impractical at first glance, it has several undeniable advantages:

• With some practice and the right device, toilet breaks are much quicker
• You don't cool down because you don't have to undress your entire body
• There's no risk of literally sitting in nettles
• No ants crawl into the dry suit (no joke, we've had that!)
• You don't have to scramble along tricky banks to find a safe spot
• You have better contact with your boat because you're not sitting on a zip
