The Immersion Research Hot Head Balaclava is made of soft, 1mm thick neoprene. It therefore provides excellent warmth. The seams are flat, so there's no pinching or chafing.
This style is more commonly associated with surfers or bank robbers. But these "balaclava" hats also have their place in paddling. They completely enclose the head and neck area for extra warmth on the coldest paddling days. It's simply tucked into the space between the neoprene and latex cuffs. So, you first put on your drysuit, then the balaclava, and then tuck the collar of the balaclava between the neoprene and latex cuffs. Got it? Great.
Too much? Then maybe a
regular neoprene hat would be better!
