Waka Steeze

With the Waka Steeze, Waka Kayaks is launching a true innovation! It's half river runner and half creek boat. In less than a minute, the Steeze can be transformed from a river runner into an extremely fast and agile creek boat by attaching the "Pod." Compared to the prototypes—which Bernie from the S2S Team (and Waka team paddler) tested—the final version features a 50mm reduction in the stern rocker and a reduction in the boat's overall height by approximately 30mm. These changes make the Steeze easier to cut under as a river runner and, thanks to the longer waterline and flatter stern rocker, significantly faster as a creek boat.

Bernie's reviews

We've already thoroughly tested the new version of the Steeze and are presenting the kayak to you in the form of two short reviews. The first review focuses on the Steeze's river running capabilities (without a pod) , while the second covers its whitewater performance (with a pod attached) . Based on these two reviews, the ideal paddler weight for the Steeze is between 70 kg and 100 kg. The closer you are to 70 kg, the more comfortable you'll feel paddling the Steeze (without a pod) in challenging whitewater. Conversely, the heavier you are, the easier it is to fully exploit the Steeze's river running potential.

Our opinion

The Steeze is so successful as both a river runner and a creek boat that it would be a huge surprise if this kayak didn't break all the records. Paddling has never been this much fun! :-) One small caveat: Anyone weighing less than 70 kg – and who primarily wants to use the boat as a river runner – should probably get a smaller river runner. For example, the Waka GOAT or the EXO Party Rexy!

The Steeze is a boat born out of our passion to develop the kayak we paddlers want most. This boat makes kayaking even more fun without compromising on the features you'd expect from a modern creek boat.

With the Steeze, we've kept the nose of a creek boat with plenty of rocker, while reducing the volume at the tail so you can steer with your hips, execute turns, and do tail squirts. It's a half-slice, but the Steeze is at home on big whitewater.

The Steeze features the unique option of a detachable pod that transforms the half-slice transom into a full-fledged creek boat. It can be attached using four inserts and adds an additional 60 liters of volume. With the pod, the Steeze then has a total volume of 360 liters. At 273 cm in length, the boat weighs 23 kg with the pod.
