The Immersion Research Hot Head Balaclava is made from soft, 1 mm thick neoprene — so it really does keep you reliably warm. The seams are flat, so nothing can pinch or rub.

This style is better known from surfers or bank robbers. But in kayaking too, these "balaclava" hoods have their place. Because: they enclose the entire head and neck area for an extra dose of warmth on the coldest paddling days. Simply tuck it into the area between the neoprene gasket and the latex gasket. So: first you put on the dry suit, then this hood, then tuck the collar between the neoprene and latex gaskets. Clear? Very good.

Too much? Then maybe just a regular neoprene cap!
