Waka Steeze

With the Waka Steeze, Waka Kayaks brings something completely new to market! It's half river runner, half creek boat. In less than a minute, by mounting the "Pod", the Steeze transforms from a river runner into an extremely fast and agile creek boat. Compared to the prototypes — which Bernie from the S2S team (and Waka team paddler) tested — the final version has 50 mm less rocker at the stern and approximately 30 mm less height across the entire length. These changes make the Steeze easier to undercut as a river runner and, thanks to the longer waterline and flatter stern rocker, significantly faster as a creek boat.

Test Reports from Bernie

We've already thoroughly tested the new Steeze for you and present the kayak in two short test reports. In the first report, we cover the river running characteristics of the Steeze (without Pod); in the second report, the whitewater performance (with Pod mounted). From the two reports, the ideal paddler weight for the Steeze is between 70 kg and 100 kg. The closer you are to 70 kg, the more comfortable you'll feel in heavy whitewater with the Steeze (without Pod). The heavier you are, the easier it is to unlock the river running potential of the Steeze.

Our Opinion

The Steeze is so brilliantly done both as a river runner and as a creek boat that it would be a huge surprise if this kayak didn't break all records. Paddling has never been this much fun :-) ! Small caveat: If you weigh less than 70 kg — and want to use the boat primarily as a river runner — you'd be better off getting a smaller river runner. For example the Waka Goat or the EXO Party Rexy!

With the Steeze, we kept the nose of a creek boat with plenty of rocker while reducing the volume at the stern so you can steer with your hips, execute turns, and pull off stern squirts. It's a half-slice, but the Steeze is at home in big whitewater.

The Steeze features the unique option of a clip-on Pod that transforms the half-slice stern into a full creek boat. It can be attached via 4 inserts and adds an extra 60 litres of volume. The Steeze with Pod comes to 360 litres total volume. At 273 cm long, the boat has a total weight of 23 kg with Pod.
