The Hiko Contact neoprene shoe is a very light and flexible shoe. It was developed for use in racing or freestyle. But it also works great for canoe polo or stand-up paddling. Or maybe you have a boat at home that you love paddling on easier whitewater — but your normal kayak shoes simply don't fit inside? Then this shoe is also a good investment.
The shoe has a one-piece sole made from abrasion-resistant, non-slip rubber. It's pulled up over the toes and heel for even better foot protection. The 2 mm neoprene is laminated on both sides with textile for a comfortable feel.
The shoe is super affordable. Is it also suitable for me as a whitewater beginner?
We'd say — only to a limited extent. In the beginning, it's unavoidable that you'll occasionally swim in whitewater and scramble along the bank to empty boats and collect gear. A good grip in the shoe and on wet, slippery rocks is an enormous advantage here. We'd rather recommend the
Palm Rock shoe or the
Astral Brewer or
Brewess.
