The Waka OG is a full-on creek boat with extreme rocker, pronounced edges and lots of volume. Despite its size — especially its considerable width — the OG can be paddled very well even by small and light people and doesn't feel bulky. It turns extremely quickly and runs drier than any other creek boat. Seriously: you really have to try hard to get the bow of the OG to dive and get properly wet!
Bernie has been using the OG regularly since October 2017, testing it primarily on the Wellerbrücke and the lower section of the Achstürze on the Ötztaler Ache. His verdict: with this kayak, heavy whitewater feels a grade easier after just a short familiarisation period. The OG gives you time. Where you'd still be bracing or waiting to see where the bow goes after resurfacing in other kayaks, with the OG you can calmly prepare for your next move. The OG was developed with the sole aim of creating a kayak that gives you more courage, keeps you dry and high, and looks good doing it. To achieve this, we turned to the kayak that many call the best kayak of all time: the Tuna 1. We added more rocker and some sexy lines while trying to incorporate some of the good characteristics of the Tuna 2.
We never wanted this boat to be super fast — we just wanted paddlers to scout the hole and say: "Even if I miss my boof, the OG will get me through."
