Pyranha convinced many paddlers with the OG Ripper 1, but with the Ripper 2 they've taken it to the next level. Through fundamental design changes, the result is not just a boofing machine but above all a boat that couldn't make undercutting and standing vertical for tailies any easier.
Looking at the Ripper 2, two striking features catch the eye: extreme rocker and a razor-thin stern. The rocker lets you glide effortlessly over any obstacle, supported by plenty of front volume for more buoyancy. Sitting in the boat, you might think you're paddling a creek boat. The kayak solidly crushes through waves, skips over holes and gives you the baseline stability to feel safe.
The extremely flat stern is a game changer for undercutting and going vertical. Even tailie beginners can push the stern underwater without much effort. At the perfect eddy line and with a bit of technique, the Pyranha Ripper 2 doesn't even want to go back to horizontal. Extra stern rocker helps keep the end of the boat above water when it counts.
The rocker and slicey stern in particular make up the relevant difference between Ripper 1 and Ripper 2. There is a small trade-off though — the new Ripper has slightly less speed, but you get significantly more style points!
