We like the Hiko Symbio Shirt for several reasons. First, it's made from three different fabrics. The back and chest area is made of 1.5 mm thick, flexible neoprene. The neoprene provides warmth but is flexible enough not to restrict movement. The side panels, shoulders, and sleeves are made of 0.5 mm thick Neospan. This is breathable and—because it's slightly thinner—even more comfortable to wear. The armpits and collar are made of Lycra. This is highly breathable, thus preventing potential heat buildup.
Secondly, Hiko is making every effort to reduce the environmental impact of its production. The material used for this shirt is also known as e.prene. It is a high-density, quick-drying nylon fabric. Various alternative techniques are used in its manufacturing. An overview of what makes e.prene special can be found summarized in this
blog post by Hiko.
