Ever tried finding a really warm fleece shirt in a regular sports shop that's also suitable for kayaking? It's pretty difficult! Because almost everything you find has all sorts of extras: various zips, pockets or hoods. None of which you want to wear under a dry jacket. That's why we've had this shirt in our range since January 2020.
The
Polartec Powerstretch Pro Longsleeve is another masterpiece from
Sandiline and was designed specifically for paddling. It fits close to the body and therefore insulates particularly well. The material is smooth on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. Fleece fibres also have the property of wicking moisture outward. A high stretch content provides absolute freedom of movement. The slightly higher collar means the latex gasket only touches the skin further up the neck. The care label was deliberately not placed at the collar to avoid scratching. The back is cut longer to cover the entire back even when seated.
We keep noticing how well this shirt wicks moisture. After paddling, the outside can be slightly damp, but the inside is still super dry and warm. If it does get properly wet, it dries very quickly.
The shirt is perfectly suited for wearing under a dry jacket because it doesn't absorb moisture. But of course — combined with
merino or fleece pants — it also works great under a dry suit. We recommend it for cold temperatures and for people who start getting cold during longer paddling trips. Not just the air temperature but especially the water temperature should play a role in choosing the right clothing. And in our latitudes, the water is usually rather cold.
