The Hiko Contact neoprene shoe is a very lightweight and flexible shoe. It was developed for racing or freestyle paddling. But it also performs well in canoe polo or stand-up paddleboarding. Or perhaps you have a boat at home that you love to paddle on easier whitewater. Unfortunately, your regular kayaking shoes don't fit? Then this shoe is a worthwhile investment.
The shoe features a one-piece sole made of abrasion-resistant and slip-resistant rubber. This sole extends over the toes and heel for enhanced foot protection. The 2mm neoprene lining is lined on both sides with textile material for a comfortable fit.
The shoe is incredibly cheap. Is it also suitable for me as a beginner whitewater kayaker?
We would say – only to a limited extent. At the beginning, it's unavoidable to occasionally swim in whitewater and crawl along the banks to empty boats and collect equipment. Good grip in your shoes and on wet, slippery rocks is a huge advantage here. In that case, we would recommend the
Palm Rock shoe or the
Astral Brewer /
Brewess .
