Sometimes you have to take a new approach – and repurpose a mountain bike shoe! The 5.10 Trailcross Mid Pro is actually one such shoe. However, Bernie has been using it for several weeks now and is still thrilled with it. Stable support on tough climbs, ankle protection, and the same sole as the much-missed Water Tennies make this shoe a real secret weapon.
We're also very impressed with the durability. Valentin, former head coach of the World Class Academy, swears by these shoes. And he spends a lot of time in his kayak. A lot, in fact. So even though the price stings a bit for us too, the shoes are definitely worth it.
Aside from that, it also performs exceptionally well on the river. The Stealth Phantom sole provides excellent grip on wet rocks. The boot is designed to extend high enough to enclose and protect the ankles (similar to the Astral
Hiyak ). Thanks to the neoprene cuff, it's virtually impossible to lose the boot.
