The Palm Extrem men's life jacket is Palm's high-end PFD for heavy whitewater. The Extrem packs all the important safety features into a well-thought-out design. The Failsafe shoulder straps, tested to 3.2 kN, are guaranteed to hold in an emergency and run all the way through the front and back panels to the waist belt. The chest harness with panic release is also standard. The PFD has four pockets, keeping your safety equipment always within reach. Using the 4 adjustable straps, the Extrem can be perfectly fitted so it sits securely and doesn't ride up. Thanks to the front-entry design, the Palm Extrem is comfortable to put on, and the four buckles can be easily opened even with cold fingers.
In 2020, Palm gave the PFD a thorough update, bringing it up to the latest safety standards! The buckles on the shoulder and chest straps are now aluminium. The O-ring on the back is now significantly thicker, so the safety belt slides through much more reliably. The front pocket zip is now larger for easier access to the essentials stored inside. The whole pocket has also grown slightly and offers enough room for a smartphone and an energy bar. The PFD is equipped with the new "UCLan" chest strap. The idea behind it is to separate the adjustment mechanism from the panic release. This means the tail end protrudes only about 2 cm, ensuring a very reliable release.
