The Immersion Research Sahalie is a high-quality drysuit for women. Its development involved professional kayakers such as Nouria Newman, Anna Wagner, and Nicole Mansfield. Therefore, the suit meets the demands of professional athletes.
Entry to this suit is via a zipper at the back. This is slightly more watertight than a diagonal front zipper because there are no "channels" in the double chimney that could allow water to flow directly into the boat. The suit features double seals made of latex and neoprene at the wrists and neck. Thanks to the clever "peel-off" design, it is particularly easy to remove, as the neoprene cuffs simply slide over the latex.
The width at the hips can be individually adjusted with a strap.
The Immersion Research Sahalie suit features an adjustable double chimney with Velcro closure. We were particularly impressed with the booties on these suits. They are extra reinforced and therefore remain watertight for a very long time.
The material used is made entirely from recycled water bottles and is
bluesign® certified. It is highly breathable, prevents condensation, and dries quickly.
Front zip! What?
The biggest difference, for example, compared to the
Immersion Research Aphrodite drysuit, is the zippers. The Immersion Research Sahalie does away with the drop-seat and moves the entry zipper to the back. Like the men's version, this suit also has a pee zip at the front. This means you have to use a small funnel to urinate. While this may seem impractical at first glance, it has some undeniable advantages:
- With a little practice and the right part, going to the toilet becomes much faster.
- You don't get cold because you don't have to undress your entire body.
- There is no danger of getting oneself into a hornet's nest, so to speak.
- Ants don't crawl into the dry suit (no joke, we've been there!)
- You don't have to crawl around on the rugged shore to find a safe peeing spot.
- You have better contact with your boat because you're not sitting on a zipper.
By the way, you can find a very entertaining blog post by Jo Kemper about front zips
