Want to keep paddling your
favourite hobby during the cold season? Then these neoprene pogies from Sandiline are the right choice! The 2 mm thick neoprene keeps your hands toasty warm. And thanks to the rubberised outer surface, no cold water can penetrate through the fabric. The pogies are attached directly to the paddle shaft using hook-and-loop closure. You then slip your hands inside and grip the shaft directly. We think this is a massive advantage over conventional paddle gloves — you still have excellent feel when paddling. Plus you don't have to worry about your hands slipping off the shaft.
FAQ: But the pogies aren't waterproof. Won't it still get cold?
We don't think so. The biggest cold factor when paddling in winter is the wind. And the pogies block that beautifully. The pogies also create a kind of "igloo" around your hands. The warmth can't easily escape through the neoprene into the cold winter air.
FAQ: What if I have to swim — what then?
Let's not beat around the bush. It CAN take a little longer to get your hands out of the pogies. If you're unsure, we think it's important not to tuck the pogies under other layers of clothing. Or you can slip out of them before committing to heavier sections and put them back on afterwards. Thanks to the hook-and-loop closure, the pogies stay attached to the paddle shaft even if you involuntarily part ways with your boat or paddle. So they won't be easily lost even if you swim.
