We like the Hiko Symbio Shirt. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, it's made from three different fabrics. The back and chest area is made from 1.5 mm thick, flexible neoprene. The neoprene provides warmth while being flexible enough not to restrict freedom of movement. The side panels, shoulders and sleeves are made from 0.5 mm thick Neospan. This is breathable and — being slightly thinner — even more comfortable to wear. The armpits and collar are made from Lycra, which is highly breathable and prevents potential heat build-up.
Secondly, Hiko makes a real effort to reduce the environmental impact of their production. The material used for this shirt is also known as e.prene — a high-density, quick-drying nylon fabric. Various alternative techniques are used in its production. An overview of what makes e.prene special can be found in this
blog post from Hiko.
The Hiko Symbio Shirt is also available as a
long-sleeve version!
