This throw bag from HF is remarkably versatile and has an extremely compact pack size. The HF Weasel fits even in the smallest freestyle kayak, or can be carried using the system loops on the HF Swifty throw bag belt or the HF Strap.
As a kayak school, we recommend removing the plastic tube around the bottom loop for kayak use. Firstly, it prevents the rope from drying properly. Secondly — and we think this is really important — the loop is quite large. This means that smaller hands can slip through the loop, which can potentially lead to dangerous situations. It's therefore necessary to make the loop smaller. Following the "clean-line principle", we also recommend removing the loop and plastic tube at the rope end. If you have any questions about this, you can reach us anytime on +43 512 546710.
Using this rescue device must be practised regularly. For example, you could set yourself the challenge of throwing the throw bag twice with precision at the start of every paddling trip. For more essential safety input, check out our Safety Course!
For extreme use involving building pulley systems or rappelling, we recommend the HF Compact Alpin or the HF Compact Syntec throw bag. The HF Weasel is not suitable for these purposes.
