As a kayak school, we recommend removing the plastic tube around the bottom loop for kayak use. Firstly, it prevents the rope from drying properly. Secondly — and we think this is really important — the loop is quite large. This means that smaller hands can slip through the loop, which can potentially lead to dangerous situations.
