With the Puffy Steeze,
Waka is fulfilling the wishes of many kayakers: instead of the standard pod, it now features approximately 20 liters more volume in the stern. This allows the boat to be paddled extremely smoothly even in the most challenging whitewater, without significantly sacrificing playability – meaning that anyone who could undercut the Steeze before can still do so now.
And what about the pod?
In our opinion, the larger pod is no longer necessary anyway. We haven't tried it yet, but it's probably still possible to screw the pod in place – although longer screws might be needed. However, we think it will become completely unnecessary to use the pod at all.
Who needs the Waka Puffy Steeze?
For those who find the Steeze with pod too heavy and bulky, but still want to paddle really challenging whitewater, the additional 20 liters have an extremely positive effect on handling.
Our opinion on the Waka Puffy Steeze
The Waka Puffy Steeze is so successful as both a river runner and a creek boat that it would be a huge surprise if this kayak didn't break all the records. Paddling has never been this much fun! :-) One small caveat: Anyone weighing less than 70 kg – and who primarily wants to use the boat as a river runner – should probably get a smaller river runner. For example, the
Waka GOAT or the
EXO Rexy .
