We're so proud! Because: our kayaking instructor, Andrina Janicke, has published the book
"Through the Eye of a River." Six illustrators present five different river stories in vibrant, colorful drawings.
We follow the little kingfisher Kuko on his journey from South America through Europe to Asia. Along the way, he visits five different rivers: the Río Azul, the Amazon, the Rhine, the Ötztaler Ache, and the Melamchi. Each illustrator visualizes one of these rivers. The book presents a colorful range of perspectives on human, animal, and plant life in relation to rivers. It also offers insights into the lifestyles and challenges faced by people living along these rivers.
This illustrated book is suitable for workshops and courses as well as for private use. While the book itself contains no text, a downloadable
teaching guide (translated into several languages) is available via a
link . This guide provides extensive scientific background information on the illustrations, allowing anyone interested to delve deeper into the topics depicted. Teachers and workshop leaders will find numerous suggestions for questions that can be addressed using the book.
You can also simply hang the 3.5-meter-long leporello in your room and admire it every day. Because it's truly beautifully made.
Incidentally, we support the
River Collective and the
Free Rivers Fund with the proceeds from the book "Through the Eye of a River". Both organizations are actively working to preserve the last remaining free-flowing rivers.
