With the Puffy Steeze, Waka fulfils the wish of many kayakers: instead of the Pod, approximately 20 litres of extra volume in the stern as standard. This allows the boat to be paddled extremely cleanly even in the most demanding whitewater, without losing significant play potential — meaning if you could undercut with the Steeze before, you still can now.
So what about the Pod?
In our opinion, the Pod with extra volume is no longer necessary. We haven't tried it yet, but it's probably still possible to screw on the Pod — though you may need longer screws. We think, however, that it won't be necessary to use the Pod anymore.
Who needs the Waka Puffy Steeze?
Anyone for whom the Steeze with Pod is too heavy and bulky but who still wants to paddle seriously heavy whitewater. The extra 20 litres have an extremely positive effect on the handling characteristics.
Our Opinion on the Waka Puffy Steeze
The Waka Puffy Steeze is so brilliantly done both as a river runner and as a creek boat that it would be a huge surprise if this kayak didn't break all records. Paddling has never been this much fun :-) ! Small caveat: if you weigh less than 70 kg and want to use the boat primarily as a river runner, you'd be better off getting a smaller river runner. For example the Waka Goat or the EXO Rexy.
