IR Royale Spray Deck

When it really matters that the spray skirt stays closed under all circumstances, kayakers worldwide reach for the Immersion Research Royale spray skirt. It's specifically designed for use in the heaviest whitewater, with many important details.

The tunnel is made from 3 mm thick neoprene. The deck is made from extremely abrasion-resistant 4 mm Supratex II material. At the front, the spray skirt is made from Schoeller™ Keprotec® with DuPont™ Kevlar® aramid fibre reinforcements. It's a rand-style spray skirt with a Tri-Fin rubber seal. On the inside of the rubber profile, the Royale has strips of silicone for even more grip — holding rock-solid on the cockpit rim even under the hardest conditions. The rubber has the property of not losing its elasticity even at cooler temperatures, so the spray skirt can still be fitted on cold days. The textured release loop is in a signal colour and easy to find and grab even in hairy situations.

By the way, the perfect tunnel size is found by measuring around your waist approximately at navel height. If you're between two sizes, go for the smaller tunnel.

IR also offers to shorten the tunnel if your torso is on the shorter side. We have a few spray skirts with short tunnels in stock, but can also order directly from IR to your specifications.

Regarding cockpit size, IR's website has a handy tool that can serve as a rough guide. Personal preferences may of course lead you to choose a different size.

The difference lies in durability. The IR Royale uses a different (and even more durable) reinforcement in the front area. More info in our test report.
